Tame your computer – use your Print Options

5 Apr

In Outlook, you can send files by attaching them to an email. You probably know how to open and save an attachment, but did you know you can print attachments without opening them?

Here’s how:

  1. Select or open the message that has attachments you want to print.
  2. Press CTRL + P.
  3. If necessary, (i.e. in Outlook 2010) click the Print Options button to open the Print dialogue box.
  4. Under Print Options, tick the Print attached files check box.

Once this setting is turned on, it remains on until you turn it off, so if in future you only want to print the message, not the attachment(s), you need to keep an eye on whether or not the “Print attached files” check box is selected.

By the way, if you don’t want to print all attachments you can right-click the relevant attachment from the open message and select Print (Outlook 2007) or Quick Print (Outlook 2010).
